Floral Verde and The Chapel Designers are Crazy for Compotes

garden style centerpiece with Don Juan climbing roses, Bougainvillea What is a compote? It's a stemmed or footed dish for displaying fruit, nuts, candy or flowers. Compotes are so in right now - just ask the staff at Martha Stewart Weddings. There is something special about the act of lifting flowers up off the table in a pedestal bowl. It creates a visual separation between the flowers and the table - lending an air of importance to the flowers. Arranging in a compote has changed the way I view flowers. I am seeking out more interesting soft-stemmed flowers to take advantage of the opportunity to drape delicate flowers and foliage over the edge. I could go on and on, but the simple truth is that compotes have helped me discover the more naturalistic style that I crave.

Inspired by Ariella Chezar's The Art of the Compote class at The Flower School New York, The Chapel Designers have decided to each share compote arrangements of our own. My arrangement contains Don Juan climbing roses, Bougainvillea "Barbara Karst", Mexican evening primrose, light green Phalaenopsis orchids, Cape honeysuckle and Dwarf Pink Powder Puff vine.
